The Atom-CPU is a perfect basis for a low-cost system. It works very energy saving and therfor is perfect for mobile usage. But also can be used as a server, Car-PC or Multimedia solutions.
Atom-CPU mainly was developed for the upcoming „Mobile Internet Devices“ (MID), which are fielded between notebooks and cell phones. „The processors were equipped in 45nm production with the worlds smallest transistors“, said Intels Vice President Sean Maloney.

About the same speed as a 1Ghz Athalon it replaced on single threaded tasks but the hyperthreading does work very well. So it feels considerably faster on the desktop that it is for interactive work.
I killed mine with a BIOS update and I should urge caution on this area but due to price I still give it 5 stars

Ansich ein gutes Konzept, aber der Chipsatz ist eine Katastrophe (braucht den meisten Strom und die Kühlung). Der Kühler heult wahnsinnig laut, mit Linux gibts diverse Probleme (BSDs haben Probleme mit Netzwerkchip, Linuxe mit USB). Habe es auf Anhieb nicht geschafft ein funktionierendes Linux bzw BSD zu installieren (Ubuntu, FreeNAS etc).
Das Bord war für meine Zwecke also leider nicht geeignet. Vielleicht gibts ja bald ein Board mit passendem und kompatiblen Chipsatz, dann ist es wieder eine Überlegung wert.

Super Board, währe nur toll wenn der Chipsatz noch etwas sparsamer währe. Sonst aber TOP.
